From sundown on Saturday evening through sundown on Sunday evening we observed Tisha B’Av (the 9th day of the Hebrew month of Av). Tisha B’Av is a 25-hour fast day in which we commemorate the destruction of the Temples in Jerusalem as well as other sad times for the Jewish people.

Throughout the day, campers participated in a variety of age-appropriate activities keeping the spirit of the day and related to the overall summer theme, From Darkness to Light, as well as their eidah (age group) summer-long theme. To close out the day, we ended with a special ceremony in which a representative of each eidah summarized what they had learned while lighting a candle to represent moving from darkness to light.
