Thursday night kicked off the 2012 Ramah Wisconsin musical season! Our entering 8th graders in Shoafim put on a rousing performance of the classic Disney musical Beauty and the Beast…all in Hebrew! With having the first musical of the year, you might think that the Shoafim campers felt extra pressure, but if they did, they definitely didn’t show it! The performance was full of energy and excitement, and it just looked like the campers were having fun–as they danced around the Bet Am as singing teacups and candlesticks, joined the angry mob to hunt down the beast, and sang the sweet ballad as Belle and the Beast fell in love. During their curtain call, the whole aidah sang a reprise of the title song “Beauty and the Beast,” with their arms around each other. They were proud of they way they presented their aidah to the camp and they had every reason to be. They definitely set the bar high for the rest of this summer’s camp musicals!

Kol HaKavod to all of Adat HaShoafim and to all the staff that helped make the musical possible. Staff from all around camp help to put on these productions: drama staff for directing, dance staff for choreography, art and woodworking staff for making the plaque and scenery, music staff for the orchestra, the technical crew for the lighting and sound, and even the Hebrew teachers for retyping the scripts to include the vowels so the Hebrew would be easier for the campers to read.

Our upcoming musicals include:

You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown by Solelim (entering 7th grade) on July 12

Grease by Bogrim (entering 9th grade) on July 19

Les Miserables by Nivonim (entering 11th grade) on July 26

Fame by Machon (entering 10th grade) and Tikvah on August 1
