I grew up in Memphis, Tennessee and was a camper at Ramah Darom for 8 years. However, before Darom existed, our synagogue sent kids to Wisconsin! I went with my father, the rabbi of the Conservative synagogue in Memphis, to visit them when I was six. I don’t remember much from that trip, so I’m excited to come back!
I will be taking on the role of Rosh Shira, a dream job of mine since I was that age. I love music and it was always my favorite part of camp. I’ve been a bunk counselor, t’fillah staff member, singer-songwriter, prayer leader, and Judaic teacher, but I haven’t had the chance to do shira. I’m so thrilled and blessed for the opportunity! I’m really looking forward to the Zimriyah, learning your favorite songs, and maybe sharing some new ones!
A bit about me: I recently graduated from Brandeis University where I studied Sociology, Jewish Studies, Creative Writing, and Theater. I now work as a Jewish educator in the Boston area, tutoring for Bar and Bat Mitzvah and running family services for various synagogues. I’m also the Education Director for Bible Raps, an innovative organization that uses hip-hop to teach Torah. (Maybe we’ll rap a bit at camp, who knows!) And my first CD of original music just came out! It’s been a very exciting semester, and a summer learning, teaching, singing, and experiencing camp is just absolutely perfect. I can’t wait to meet you!!
