Abby joins us for her sixth summer on staff, second as Rosh Omanut. She has been an Artist-in-Residence at Ramah Day Camp for five years, Ramah Darom’s Passover Institute for the past six years and Ramah New England’s Kishroniyah Program for the past two summers.
Abby facilitates fused glass workshops and other art programs throughout the Chicago area. When she’s not teaching and creating art in her home studio, she sells advertising for WGN Radio.
Abby graduated from Penn State University, with a degree in communications and broadcasting, and lives in Deerfield with her husband, two children and goldendoodle Archie.
What’s your favorite thing about camp?
Everything!! But mostly the fresh air, the dynamic people including our world-class maintenance team, the stunning view every time I look at the lake and the clearest, most breathtaking view of the stars at night.
What’s your favorite meal at camp?
Salmon a la Joe and the coffee cake on Shabbat morning.
What are you most looking forward to?
Reconnecting with staff and campers, meeting new friends and helping campers create beautiful art for themselves and to display at camp.
What’s something new happening in Omanut this summer?
We will be screenprinting images on fused glass and making jewelry with our mini-metalsmithing studio.
