Among the many things that sets Ramah apart is the significant resources we put into camper care. In addition to the high ratio of cabin staff to campers, Ramah provides another layer of support in its camper care team. The team, comprised of adults known as yoatzim or staff trainers, works daily with eidah (division) staff to provide training, to help problem solve, and to support counselors in their work with their campers.
In addition to working closely with eidah staff, the camper care team is available to spend time individually with campers if there is a need for an adult presence. Knowing that there is an adult to whom they can turn helps give campers an additional level of confidence and ability to thrive at camp.
While the eidah staff is engaged in the day to day work of taking care of dozens of campers and planning their programs, the yoatzim provide that additional layer of support to help ensure that each child’s needs are being met. This extra bit of support allows the counselors to succeed in their primary goal: to ensure that here at camp, every child feels at home.
