Fall/Winter 2017-2018

By Elana Tennenbaum, Chicago Reshet Ramah Coordinator

What has Reshet Ramah been up to around Chicago? A lot!

In October we held our first Torah on Tap at Milt’s BBQ for the Perplexed.  It was a small casual gathering over drinks where we got a chance to chat with Camp Ramah in Wisconsin Director Jacob Cytryn. We had an intimate discussion about the continuity of the Jewish People and how we, as young Jews, incorporate our own Jewish identity into the rigors of daily city life.

November was a busy month with National Ramah T-Shirt Day and Shabbat Across Ramah.  On November 8, 2017, we had so many Ramah alumni and their families show their love for Ramah by taking their favorite Ramah T-Shirts out of their drawers and showing support with #RamahShirts!  All of the Ramah shirt excitement was quickly followed by Ramah alumni from around the country hosting each other for Shabbat Across Ramah.  We had wide array of alumni participating, both young alumni with friends as well as alumni and their families all enjoying Shabbat together.

December was filled with Holidays and fun in the snow.  Ramah alumni stepped up and participated in our first ever Suburban Hanukkah Winter Gear Drive.  We collected over 25 coats benefiting kids of all ages by donating coats, boots, hats and gloves to the wonderful organization Cradles to Crayons in Chicago. It was a wonderful way to give back during the holiday season.

Looking forward in 2018 we have so many exciting Alumni Events.
