alexa dickenFrom Long Island, New York, Alexa is joining us as Rosh Omanut (Art) for her first summer on staff. Alexa is brand new to Ramah, so we’re excited to welcome  her to our community! Though Alexa was never a camper at Ramah before, she has been a counselor at other camps for four summers. She spent last summer volunteering in Jerusalem through Yahel Onward Israel. She was interested in finding a new challenge for this summer. Her older sister, who works for Avodah in New York City, suggested Ramah. We’re glad she did!

Alexa recently graduated from SUNY Binghamton with a BA in English. While at Binghamton, she was a member of the school’s co-ed alternative rock a cappella group. She is also a creative writer and was recently published in Alpenglow, Binghamton’s Undergraduate Journal of Research and Creative Activity. In the fall, she will continue her studies at Binghamton to earn a masters in English. One day she hopes to become an English professor.

Alexa’s favorite thing about camp in general in the atmosphere of family. She says, “There is nothing like the connection that camp makes. She’s looking forward to new experiences and new friends this summer and can’t wait to meet everyone!
